Once again, my friend and colleague Joachim called me with work. Jocahim were recently hired as marketing director at a soon to open crossfit center, with the inventive name
CROSSFIT OSLO. So after they fired their advertising company, that designed their visual identity, Joachim called me. When I first talked to Joachim it sounded like a smaller assignment. However, the list of what Joachim needed done crew fast, and Joachim and the guys at
CROSSFIT OSLO soon decided it would be better for me to come to Norway and work for a couple of days. So now I’m in lovely Oslo working on implementing their visual identity.
So far I have spend my time here making mock-ups of all the things they need. beachflags, roll-ups, backlighted roof signs, road signs, parking signs, water bottles, membership cards, wall decorations and more. I have visited Joachim and his family. I have had lots of good food (including a magnificent steak
sandwich and a milkshake at
the Nighthawk dinner), we watched Sucker Punch(that is not recommendable). And I have had my first go at crossfit. If you are not familiar with crossfit. I can report that it is a high intensity training, based on drills. What we did, was a drill called HELL, that included running, kettlebell swings, and pullups. I finished the drill LAST. But still, I feld that I had out performed myself… that might sound strange, but even though I compared myself to the other crossfitters I competed with myself. My first impression of crossfit is that even though it’s is a tough, hard and intense way of training. With good instruction and the right facilities, even weaklings like myself will like crossfit. and hey, with training like that. I can drink another milkshake at
the Nighthawk dinner.
This Oslo visit brought another first time for me. Trap shooting ! I would never have predicted Joachim would suggest to go trap shooting. but he did, and we did. After a
thorough introduction to the weapon. I shot my first round. The rifle didn’t explode, neither did it rip of my shoulder. so I was left with a feeling og success! that soon vanished when Joachim started launching the the flat orange targets into the air. I missed, I missed and I missed. I gave Joachim the rifle and I saw him shatter the little clay discs one after another. He gave me back the rifle and I continued my failure. Joachim kept giving me pointers and and after 30-40 shots he suggested that I should try a double shot. I loaded both barrels og the rifle he launched the Clay dove, and I fired and missed, fired… and HIT! wauw what a feeling! after that first hit I got an Idea of what I had to do to hit the target, and the hits came more often, so when we left I felt quite the marksman (though I only shot 1 0f 5 when joachim shot 4 of 5). All in all, I am having a most wonderfull time in Oslo, and though im leaving for denmark soon, I am looking forward to keep working with
CROSSFIT OSLO, and I hope to have a chance to visit Joachim and Oslo again soon.
